IT Support Engineer

Small, fun IT support provider in downtown San Francisco seeks an energetic, savvy professional to assist clients big and small. The successful candidate must have direct experience supporting end users in a business environment, expertise with TCP/IP networking, solid skills with both the Windows and Macintosh operating systems, an eagerness to help and a winning smile. Candidates looking to grow into a management position preferred. 

Duties

  • Provide computer & network support for various clients via onsite visits, telephone support, ticket support through Zendesk, and remote desktop
  • Responsible for installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of laptop/desktop computers, printers, and mobile devices
  • Network infrastructure implementation, VPN/Active Directory/GPO setup & support, email services, antivirus and disaster recovery, preventative maintenance, etc.
  • Administer client servers & network infrastructure with RMM tools and creating scripts for preventative measures
  • Support our local data center and disaster recovery environment
  • Computer hardware & software troubleshooting & repair
  • Reimaging desktops and laptops
  • Time management skills
  • Asset management and inventory control
  • Create and maintain documentation for system processes and procedures

Requirements

  • 2-5+ years of experience supporting end users in a consulting/IT support environment. 
  • 2-5+ years of experience with TCP/IP networking (proficiency with routers, switches, wireless access points etc.)
  • 2-5+ years of experience supporting virtual environments using VMware or Windows Hyper-V server 
  • 2-5+ years of experience with Windows Server 2008 through 2012 R2 Active Directory deployment and administration
  • 2-5+ years of experience managing, administering, and supporting on premise Exchange, Google Apps and Office 365/hosted exchange
  • Experience with one of the following routers / firewalls (SonicWall, Cisco / Meraki, Fortinet, etc.)
  • Understanding of networking concepts such as DNS, DHCP, FTP, SFTP, SNMP, SMTP, Email, HTTP, HTTPS, SSL, OSI Model, and TCP/IP protocols and applications 
  • Highly proficient with Windows 7, 8.1 & 10 
  • Highly proficient with Mac OS 10.10 - 10.12 
  • Excellent communication & follow-up skills 
  • Ability to engage customers on "their level" 
  • High attention to detail and impeccably organized 
  • Available to be on call on weekends and evenings to respond to client requests 
  • Ability to thrive in high demand, high pressure situations 
  • Must live in the Bay Area and have reliable transportation into San Francisco 
  • Great sense of humor 
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, MIS, Computer Science, a related field or equivalent work experience is required. 

Preferred

  • Experience with the following (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Perl) 
  • Proficiency with on premise Microsoft Exchange Server administration 
  • Capable of supporting a network topology that supports +10,000 devices 
  • MCSA, MCSE: Server Infrastructure, CCNA, Network+, Server+ is a plus
